SOME OBSERVATIONS FROM THE GOLIATH TIGER FISHING TRIP 8 – 18 AUGUST 2011:
Conclusion if you are looking to take a Goliath tiger fishing trip into the Congo river avoid using goliathtigerfishing.com or BOB GLYNN the Goliath Scammer!!!!! Want to know more about how we lost a ton of money by booking the “supposed” Goliath Tiger Fishing Trip of a lifetime?
Goliath Tiger SCAM fishing Trip led by BOB GLYNN, Banking our Check and Running.
- Bob Glynn (the web scammer from goliathtigerfishing.com), on his website goliathtigerfishing.com advertises a “luxury trip” showing the luxuary goliath tiger fishing lodge images (NOW READS “(23rd Aug 2011): UNAVAILABLE TILL FURTHER NOTICE”) since this post went live.
- The images below, marked “advertised” were also attached to an email sent to the Cadiz group by Bob Glynn.
As Advertised

- The images of the lodge sent to us by Bob Glynn were not of the lodge we actually stayed in. The advertised lodge is one that Raymond Neuville, the Congo River Lodge operator, used to rent but has not done so for more than 18 months. This lodge is some 15 km upriver from Brazzaville. We saw the place on the way back from Neuville’s Camp.
- The actual camp stayed at is advertised on Raymond Neuville’s website
A Closer 2 the Reality

You pick the accommodation you would to stay in for your luxury Goliath Tiger Fishing Trip?
- We requested an adequate supply of beer for the boat trip from Brazzaville to the lodge (supposedly 3 hours). On inspection, the cooler boxes contained a total of 12 alcohol-free beers. We were told that we were here to fish, not to drink;
- We were informed that there were no mosquitoes at the fishing camp and consequently no malaria, but that there was a possibility that small flies may bite us in the mornings. There were in fact many mosquitoes and there is a 100% certainty of being bitten by hundreds of small flies every day (definitely in the morning, but also probably in bed at night);
- The food was of a low standard, unimaginative and dishes were repeated daily.
Breakfast consisted of a stale roll which was heated up over a fire with some jam.
The camp ran out of jam and butter halfway through the trip, which required a trip to Brazzaville to replenish.
We paid US$1,000 to Neuville to order beer, tonic, jam, eggs, etc from Brazzaville and he sent a pirogue for that purpose. On return (2 days later and now 4 days into our 8-day trip), very little of what we ordered arrived;
- No snacks were provided as advertised.
- Guests were hungry between meals.
- No shop was present as advertised (not that a shop is a necessity, but this was just one of a number of factual misrepresentations);
- The camp had three boats. Of the three;
- One functioned but starting the engine (300hp Evinrude) was troublesome often taking 15 – 20 minutes to start in the morning. This engine packed in completely on the last day;
- Another, fitted with twin Suzuki 150hp motors had a malfunction on one of the motors, which prevented the boat from planing. This caused the trip back from the camp to Brazzaville to be 6.5 hours instead of 3 hours. In the process, the boat had to plough through the middle of the river, drenching luggage and passengers for most of the trip;
- The third, fitted with an old 200hp Yamaha proved to be the most reliable, but has the carbon footprint of a large Eastern city;
- The boats were in a bad state of repair, generally dirty and not cleaned daily;
- Bait was not organized and daily toil was needed to find bait. There was no effort or inclination by Neuville or the staff to be proactive on bait. The camp offered frozen bream as bait which from research is not great Goliath bait;
- The camp owner Raymond Neuville lost his cool twice, shouting at the group because we asked him to provide more ice, tonic for our gin and some decent beers. Shouting at guests is unacceptable under any circumstance;
- In general, there was no service ethic at all. Boats were never ready in the mornings. Fishermen had to check and replenish the cooler boxes daily and departure from the lodge was always 45-60 minutes later than it could have been;
One of the staff was particularly quarrelsome, continually drunk and aggressive. He is completely unpredictable and a hazard to guests;
- The camp was advertised as having air conditioning. Air-conditioning units were present but were not working for years because the generator was apparently too small;
The beds were uncomfortable and pillows hard as nails;
- The showers barely worked, pressure was minimal and water supply limited. Some guests used bottles of water to wash;
The invoiced amount for the trip included £1500 for the guiding services of Bob Glynn. Bob Glynn was not in attendance.
On refusal of refund for the above ordeal this post shall remain to forewarn any future Goliath Tiger anglers that too might be duped into believing goliathtigerfishing.com is anything more than a scam run by BOB GLYNN.
Anyway this is what we were after. GOLIATH TIGERS.
